Interview with Ethan Isaac of Edisun

Everyone loves a hometown hero and Ethan Isaac is bringing Edisun back home for one of the summer's largest shows, 94.1 WJJO Band Camp. The son of a NYC playwright, Ethan knows a thing or two about putting on a good show and he says that is what Edisun has built their reputation on. Hard Rock Review's Aaron Manogue talked with Ethan about their full-length debut album, playing Band Camp and their previous experience with WJJO.

Aaron Manogue: You guys are on the lineup for this year's 94.1 WJJO Band Camp. What is it like to have the honor of playing such a big event with so many other great bands?
Ethan Isaac: I grew up in Madison so it's amazing to be be working with wjjo and be on the bill with so many great bands like clutch and five finger death punch.

AM: Is there a band on the lineup that you are really excited about playing with? (Here's the lineup so far )
EI: Clutch has got to be one of the most original hard rock bands alive! So yes Clutch is the shit!

AM: You also played for JJO and their fans on New Year's Eve and put on a great acoustic set. How was it playing for large crowd acoustically? Was it a challenge or was it something you guys embraced?
EI: One of the great things about Edisun is that we always welcome a challenge. I think it is important to be able to have the ability to convey music in all different forms. It keeps playing live fresh and original. It also shows a different side of the band to our friends and fans. It was the best new years show we have ever played and had a great time! As always we love hanging with our friends from JJO & Nonpoint.

AM: You seem to really take pride in your live show. Even though the NYE show was acoustic and relatively intimate, you guys still really put on a kick ass rock show. Is that something you guys take pride in?
EI: Edisun has built it's reputation on our live show. Working with the military playing for the troops we have played over 20 countries in some of the most extreme weather conditions. Sand storms to 115 degree heat. We love to play. That's why we do this. It takes a ton of energy to move a band from one spot to the next. So we play every show like it was are last show.

AM: Your second single "Wide Awake (Riot in This Town)" will be hitting radio stations in early July. Tell us about the song and what we can expect.
EI: Riot in this town! Great time summer song. It's Edisun's signature song off the record. It's about playing kick ass rock n roll from one town to the next. Madison is our favorite town to play!

We are so looking forward to getting back to madtown. We want to thank WJJO and all are friends family and fans for embracing the sounds of Edisun! With out you we would not exist. We feel fortunate to be able to do the thing we love most in such a difficult business. So this leads me to leave you with a quote from Hunter S Thompson:
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
See ya all at Band Camp!
