Review of Wednesday 13's 'Calling All Corpses'

Blood, guts, horror movies and zombie sluts. Lathed with tongue-in-cheek lyrics straight out of EdgarWright's Shaun of the Dead, Wednesday 13's 'Calling All Corpses' is just plain fucking fun.  I'm going to just go ahead and see it; this is the funnest album of the year. With tracks titled like "Ghoul of My Dreams," "One Knife Stand," and "Bad at Being Human," one can only imagine the creativeness Wednesday 13 (Murderdolls, Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13, Bourbon Crow) put into his latest solo album filled with twisted puns and evil chuckles.

The highlight of the album is the spin-off of The Ramone's "I Wanna Be Sedated." As one would expect from Wednesday, his version is a little more morbid, suitably titled "I Wanna Be Cremated." It's hard enough to cover a song from a legendary band as it is, but to put your own personal twist on it and make it still kick ass is next to impossible.

Wednesday made the classic song rise from the dead, and then made it his zombie bitch. All in all, this album screams absolute darkness and fun rolled up in a ball of body parts and sprinkled with heavy dose of fun. If this album doesn't make you sing along and then make you stop and say, "What the fuck did I just say?!", then it's time to call the morgue, because you're dead.
