Gibson Guitar Plants in Nashville & Memphis Raided

The world famous Gibson Guitar plant located in Nashville and Memphis are in the process of being raided as we speak. This is no joke. Federal agents are on site and continue to raid the facilities. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection started executing their warrant early this morning on the company's factory and corporate headquarters, according to Nicholas Chavez, the special agent who is leading the investigation with the Fish and Wildlife Dept.

Local paper Memphis Commercial Appeal has reported that tourists and plant visitors arrived at the facilities to be greeted by locked doors with agents inside. So far, no arrests have been made and Chavez commented that the raid is part of an investigation having to do with a case in Texas, but refused to comment further.

Believe it or not, this isn't the first time that Gibson has been a victim of raids. In 2009 they were raided for possible violations of the Lacey Act. This act bans the importation of endangered plants and wildlife. During that raid, federal agents seized ebony and other woods that were prohibited by the Lacey Act.
